#FIVEONFRIDAY

Check out this week's #FIVEONFRIDAY

Tar Mar Tales

Tar Mar Tales; a name to know and a blog to stalk…I mean read. The Cork/Belfast based blogger is honest, funny and smart when it comes to creating her blog. With posts and discussions ranging from reviewing recent make-up buys, delicious receipts she’s trying at the moment and look-books to previews into the young bloggers budding career within fashion. (Just last summer she worked in the costume department on Game of Thrones *pause for fan-girling*) Covering all the social mediums, Tar Mar Tales is an exciting and talented stylish lady who keeps you both entertained and informed!

Grafton Street

Grafton Street would not be the first place you think of for some free light entertainment during your lunch break. However, during the summer months Dublin’s famous shop street becomes an open stage for street performers far and wide. With living statues placed beside epic dance-offs and bubble makers framing the stages for acoustics beginners, Grafton street has a little bit of fun and excitement for everyone.

Valerie Coyne Music

We are so thrilled to be hosting an intimate concert with the hugely talented Valerie Coyne Trio later this month. It’s going to be an amazing night of soft jazz, refreshments and fashionable moments. Mark the date in your calendar, July 10th, and head over to our blog for more details.

Murphy’s ice cream

While I still would never refuse the old reliable HB Raspberry Swirl ice cream (with two wafers of course), there is something to be said about looking for that extra ‘umph’ when it comes to treating yourself to an ice cream.  Step forward Murphy’s Handmade Ice Cream *round of applause*. Currently providing 16 flavours and counting, Murphy’s Ice Cream is the best way to feel like a big kid again but with a little bit more class. Two scopes of Blissful Butterscotch and a photo on the giant swing please! :D

The Icon Factory

Although I’ve been working in Temple Bar for almost two years, the old region still manages to provide me with some unique discoveries. The latest of these is The Icon Factory. Based on Aston Place, the non-profit company was created with the purpose to portray and promote modern artistic interpretations of some of the major artists and icons within Irish history.  With each artists’ creations exhibited throughout the lanes of Temple Bar, the Icon Factory have provided the perfect balance between playing homage to the past while displaying the future of the artistic scene within Ireland.

#FIVEONFRIDAY

Another week, another five amazing events to share with you! J

A Dog’s Life Charity Sale

Comfy clothes? Check! Hair off the face as not to impair vision? Check! Coins at the ready…..GO!!
It’s that manic time again in Siopaella HQ - our Dog’s Life Charity Sale is this Sunday June 29th. With over 500 items at €3, ranging from designer goods to high-street heaven, it is a must have shopping experience for all fashion lovers. Starting at noon, our Dog’s Life Charity Sale is an amazing day to give back to those furry babies who sadly don’t get their much deserved hugs and kisses unlike our own sweet Louis and trusting Raquel. Check out our Facebook page for more info and may the odds ever be in your favour. J

The Dublin Pride Parade

For the past two weeks Dublin has been covered in rainbow pride and we LOVE it! Running from June through to July, Dublin Pride has provided various exciting events throughout the city. From highlighting the history of LGBT pride within Dublin, ‘Singing in the City’ performances by Various Voices, Wilde art exhibitions and even to the old-favourite, bingo. Thanks to Dublin Pride, the city has a new lease of life and appreciation. All the amazing work and contributions come together in the Dublin Pride Parade this Saturday 28th. We certainly will be embracing the rainbow goodness that afternoon!

Temple Bar Food Market

The Temple Bar Food Market is THE place that ‘foodies’ (like us) dream about. An entire Saturday afternoon could be spent experiencing and admiring the various treats displayed throughout the market. Based in Temple Bar’s Meeting House Square, just a street over from our Temple Lane shop, the Temple Bar Food Market is a must see, smell and taste. With so much variety and zest provided, it will have you counting down the days until the next Saturday!

Sea Sessions Surf and Music Festival

Need an escape from the city this weekend? Then grab your Raybans (have you seen the incredible vintage range in both shops?), throw in a bucket and spade and head to Sea Sessions Surf and Music Festival this weekend. Based in the beautiful Bundoran, Donegal, the three day music and surf festival is the perfect weekend to literally put your feet in the sand, let your city worries wash away and enjoy those feel good vibes. 99’ cones with raspberry syrup would be a must!

Dublin Castle – Chihuly in Dublin

Dale Chihuly’s exhibition, ‘Ulysses Cylinders’, is on display in Dublin Castle from June 19th – August 23rd.  Chihuly is an extremely talented artist who creates vibrant and beautiful glass installations and chandlers. For this particular exhibition, Chihuly has teamed up with painter, Seaver Leslie, to create a truly stunning collection. If you've fallen in love with our chandeliers from Siopaella home ware, (Ciara’s post) then the Chihuly exhibition is a must see due to its craftsmanship and imagination.
