Fashion Favourites: The Emmys!

Oh who doesn't love award season - all those beautiful people in beautiful clothes?

Well now that the Emmys are done and dusted, all that's left is to pick our favourites from the red carpet. We won't mention our not-so-favourites, because we're nice like that :)

Emilia Clarke in Chanel Couture
Everyone knows we love a bit of Chanel so we had to put Emilia Clarke in our 'best dressed' list! The Game of Thrones actress looked gorgeous in Chanel Couture. There might be better shoes out there for the look but everything else's so pretty that we don't care.

Lucy Liu in Versace
Every red carpet needs a bit of sparkle and Lucy Liu brought it in this Versace gown. And no, those are not sequins, it's actually metal! The actress did admit the dress was super-heavy, but it's worth it to look that good.

Gennifer Goodwin in Monique Lhuillier
Gennifer Goodwin has gotten some bad press for this dress but I think it suits her pixie crop and personality perfectly. It's nice to see celebrities who aren't afraid to do something a little different.

Jilie Bowen in Monique Lhuillier
This is not an easy colour to wear but how gorgeous (and young!) does Julie Bowen look? She made the smart move of keeping accessories to a minimum because, let's face it, this colour does all the talking! Would you wear it?

Zooey Deschanel in Reem Acra
Zooey Deschanel's usually so quirky on the red carpet but this gown is so beautiful that I can see why she fell for it! With the pretty pink lip and casual up-do she looks fresh and elegant (though she did get her skirt caught in Lucy Lui's metal number shortly after this!).

Julianne Hough in Georges Hobeika
This girl can work the fish-tail! It's just mermaid-y enough for me and the embellishment at the bottom adds a nice weight to the dress. Even more super-simple accessories here - are we sick of statement jewellery?

Nicole Kidman in Antonio Berardi
This is my personal favourite! Nicole Kidman looks so clean and chic (even though I might have added an inch or two to the length) but still interesting. The belt and placement of the embellishment gives her some shape, and her sleek hair keeps the look modern. J'adore!

Is there anyone I missed on our list, or am I just plain wrong? What was your favourite look from the night? Let me know what you think!

:) Katie

Three Euro Tuesday!

Lesley & Melissa were among the first shoppers at 3Euro Tuesday!

We really can't believe the response for Three Euro Tuesday. Thank you guys so much for coming out on such an horrible day and supporting A Dog's Life and siopaella.

Another huge thank you to all our very generous consigners who donated over 250 designer and high street pieces.

This was the calm before the storm ...

And this was it about 15 minutes later!

We were super busy from the minute we opened the doors and after an hour the rails were looking bare. We couldn't keep up with you guys!

By 11.30am we'd already raised €200 for A Dog's Life - not bad seeing as our last day raised €500 in total. Luckily we can always rely on Raquel to remain calm under pressure :)

As an extra treat for our lovely shoppers we had nail art by donation in-store too - thanks so much to those who gave their time all for charity! We did keep one rail packed with gems for our friends working all day, which we released at 5pm. Again a huge thank you to those who ventured into the rain after work.

In total we raised €972.44 for A Dog's Life, which is amazing! We're delighted that we nearly doubled what we made the last time and for such a great cause.

Louis!
siopaella's own Louis is from a Canadian shelter similar to A Dog's Life so it's a charity that's close to all our hearts and we're so happy to be able to work with them.

So from everyone at siopaella we just want to say a huge *THANK YOU* to everyone who donated your clothes, time and money to make this event such a success!

:) Katie

PS: If you found a great item at 3Euro Tuesday we want to see how you wear it - just post a pic on Facebook and tag us in!

Back to Black

There's no denying it - leather is the look of the season

Gothic glamour is the only way to do black this season – think rebellious, rich and that most overused word lately, dominatrix.  Black leather was all over the AW’12/’13 runways with Valentino, Diane von Furstenberg and, of course, Givenchy heading the bunch. This trend goes so far beyond your little old biker jacket, but that’s a good place to start. Go for dresses, knee-length coats, and even full-length gowns – go all out!

siopaella has so got you covered for this trend. We’ve all sorts of leather goodies to keep you on the fashion ball this season. So let's start with a classic; the biker jacket. The perfect accompaniment to, well, everything, it's a real wardrobe staple. We've this gorgeous one in stock at the minute - it's vintage, it's heavy and it's super cool!

If you're after the Diane von Furstenberg look then you'll need these vintage leather trousers. Forget all preconceptions you have and check these out; straight legged and seriously soft, they're great for winter, and no, they're not as difficult to pull off as you might think!

If you're not the biggest fan of real leather, don't fret. We've some great leather-esque pieces but my favourite is this Tommy Hilfiger skirt because it's actually silk! But how much does it look like really expensive leather? Plus, this is one you can take to work, to the pub and to meet the parents if you need to.

Last but not least, accessories. This leather-look Pinko bag is feminine but tough and how gorgeous are these Marc Jacobs boots? Imagine wearing them on those cold, winter evenings with your favourite coat *sigh*

What did I tell you? We've got everything you could need to stay on-trend this season!
